I got these socks for a very practical reason: I was wearing new sneakers and they were tearing up the backs of my ankles and I was bleeding. This was happening during Paris fashion week, and a chic stylist actually pointed at my oozing heel and gasped. That was… not very chic! So I ran into Monoprix (France’s Target equivalent) and grabbed a pair. I was wearing a pair of Rachel Comey’s legion pants in khaki, which are flared and cropped, so I knew these socks were going to be SEEN by the fashion industry’s most discerning eyes, and that they had to look cute.

I found a pair that had thick stripes, and they instantly added a little interest to my otherwise quite plain ‘fit. That same stylist told me they did indeed look cute!
And I’d noticed that all the cool kids in fashion were starting to cover up their ankles—gym socks and dad sneakers, delicate frilly socks to wear with heels. Worth a try, right?
