LATEST ADMISSION UPDATES FOR ALL INSTITUTIONS

March 29, 2018
Candidates need to consider the following five things before applying for admission in their institution of choice.

1.CHOOSING THE WRONG INSTITUTION/COURSE.

This is a very important thing aspirants should note.Choosing the wrong institution for your course of choice. You need to know if the course chosen is offered in the institution otherwise you might not be admitted or given a course at random which you may not like.

2.FAILURE TO MEET UP WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF YOUR CHOSEN INSTITUTION

This is also a very crucial point aspirants should note. For instance ,if a university accept 180 as it's cut off mark and you had 170.You didn't meet the requirement for the institution. It would be advisable to apply for a change of institution otherwise you will not even be considered for admission. It's a loss on your side. Each university has its own cut off mark ranging from 120 to 200

Click here to check universities that accepts 180 below

3.FAILURE TO MEET UP WITH THE REQUIREMENT FOR YOUR COURSE OF CHOICE

You need to make sure you know the cut off mark for your course in the chosen institution. For instance an institution accepts 180 as it's cut off mark and the cut off mark for a particular course is 200(let's say micro biology) but you scored 192.
Actually you scored above the cut off mark for the institution ut didn't meet the requirement for your course.
It's advisable to change your course if you still wish to apply for the institution to a low cut off course otherwise your course might be changed. You can also change institution since the cut off mark for every course in each institution varies.
University of Ilorin may accept 230 for engineering and unilag may accept 200 for the same course. The decision is left to you!!

4) ASPIRING FOR A HIGH COMPETITIVE INSTITUTION/COURSE

Most universities have decided on the number of students they will admit each year. Some make it secretive while some make it public. So these high competitive universities will always look for different means to bring them down to the number of students they wish to admit thereby most students won't be admitted.
Nothing is bad in aspiring for a high competitive university but scoring higher may give you better chances of beign admitted.
And about the competitive courses like Medicine,Law,Engineering, Mass communication, political science and many more.Like I said earlier nothing is bad in choosing those courses but scoring higher will give you better chances of being admitted because they will start giving admission in descending order .

Also read: High and low competitive universities

5) SUBMISSION OF WRONG INFORMATION/DOCUMENTS

Many candidates do make mistakes in uploading right information during screening.Information like O'level grades,UTME result, personal information and many more. And some candidates information don't correlate(For instance the name used during waec registration is James Ebuka Paul while the one used during UTME is James Chukwemeka Victor.) This may lead to disqualification.

CHANGE OF COURSE AND INSTITUTION 2018/2019

March 29, 2018
Note: Correction of data for the 2018/19 session has commenced.
This serves as a guideline

Why Candidates Apply for JAMB Change of Course/Institution

There are obviously three good reasons why a candidate may need to change his/her jamb choice of course or institution or both:
LOW JAMB SCORE: After the release of Jamb results, the next thing to face is admission screening exercise and admissions. Now take for instance that someone applied for a federal university of technology, Minna who will probably fix a cut-off mark of 200 and above; if such candidate scored less than 200, it simply means he/she has lost the admission. In this case the change of institution to a state-owned/private University becomes necessary. State universities generally fix cut-off marks below 200.
INCOMPLETE O”LEVEL RESULTS: In this case candidates who may have ran into deficiency of required credit passes in some key/relevant subjects may decide to go for change of course to accommodate themselves.
MISTAKES DURING REGISTRATION: Was there a mistake while filling your registration by either you or the business/cyber cafe? With this help, you can now correct any errors made during registration of your course or institution.
OTHER CHALLENGE: These includes several factors ranging from finance, change in Geographical locations, Parent’s suggestions, Fear of Tribal differences, etc. Such cases treated under this heading result to change of institution.
N/B: Change of course and institution can only be done twice and you can only change to a course relating to your UTME Subject combination. I
All JAMB candidate who made mistakes while filling form online are to note that they can now make corrections for the following categories:
  1. Correction of Name
  2. Gender
  3. State/LGA of Origin
  4. Choices of Institution/Courses and
  5. Date Of Birth
NB: Changes for Course/Institution, Names, Date of Birth, Gender, State/LGA of Origin are N2,500 (two thousand five hundred naira only).

JAMB Change of Course/Institution Correction Guide

  1. Go to JAMB portal at http://www.jamb.org.ng/efacility/.
  2. Login with your Email and Password.
  3. Click on ‘Application for Correction of Data’ from the list of services on the left side.
  4. Form the drop down, select the one you wish to correct i.e. Course/Institution, Names, Date of Birth, Gender, State/LGA of Origin .

You can effect the change of course/institution from your mobile phone/home/ CBT Centres.

2018 POST UTME AND ADMISSION UPDATES

March 25, 2018

  • After the conducted UTME which started on March 9- 17.After which all candidates are expecting the POST UTME which will surely hold in almost every institutions [Ignore every rumour that it has been cancelled].
  • We believe almost all candidates has seen their UTME result. And those that have not should exercise patience. It may be due to technical issues or your result was withheld due to examination malpractice by the centre you wrote the exam.It would surely be available very soon.
  •  Moreover, many candidates had been sending messages and asking questions on the 2018 post UTME screening exercise and admission process

"KNOW YOUR INSTITUTION CUT OFF MARK AND FOR EACH COURSE"

  •  Knowing your institution cut off mark will allow you to know whether you qualify for the institution post utme screening or not as no candidates will be admitted to any institution without meeting the requirements. It will just be a lost on your side and waste of time.
  • Though no institution has released it cut off marks for the 2018/19 admission session. It is yet to be decided buh assuring you that it will be available very soon.

  • Many have been asking if they will be admitted with marks below 180.The answer is "YES". Some universities slated their cut off mark at 120,150,160,180,190 and 200.

Click here: All universities, polytechnics, college of education cut off mark.

  • One more important thing is knowing the cut off for each course in your chosen institution. This will help you decide whether to change your course or not.If you don't qualify for your chosen course .It would be better to change it or else you might be given an unwanted course later when the admission starts. Wise up!! and do the right thing!

  • Finally we urge every candidates to start preparing for the 2018 POST UTME screening exercise which will start very soon. Scoring higher in JAMB doesn't qualify you for admission as post utme also determine whether you will be admitted. Woeful performance in post utme may disqualify you for admission.

So prepare!
Wishing you Best of luck!!

"I'M HAPPY MY DAUGHTER DIDN'T DENOUNCE CHRIST" SAYS A DAPCHI GIRL'S FATHER

March 21, 2018
Nata Sharibu, the father of the only student of Federal Government Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state who is yet to be freed, says Boko Haram insurgents decided not to release his daughter because she refused to denounce Christ. Acording to Thecalbe.ng Mr Sharibu speaking on RayPower FM shortly after the Dapchi girls were released, said he learnt that the insurgents gave his daughter the option of converting to Islam but she rejected it.

He expressed delight over her stance but prayed for her return. “All of them were released. They said some were dead there and my daughter is alive but they cannot release her because she is a Christian,” he said. “They gave her the option of converting in order to be released but she said she will never become a Muslim… I am very sad but I am also jubilating too because my daughter did not denounce Christ.” Also the Nigerian Army on Wednesday formally handed 106 released girls from Boko Haram captivity to Federal Government. Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, presented the released girls to the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at the 105 Air Force Composite Command, Maiduguri.

Nicholas explained that 104 of the girls were from the 110 abducted from Government Science and Technical School, Dapchi, released from the insurgents in the early hours of Wednesday. He said the remaining six abducted schoolgirls were still unaccounted, noting that two other abducted girls who were not part of the abducted students were rescued from the insurgents by troops. The theatre commander added that the rescued girls were brought from Dapchi to Maiduguri together with their parents and guardians.

The minister of information said Federal Government adopted proactive measures to secure release of the remaining girls and persons under insurgents’ captivity. Mohammed noted that government was working to end hostilities and enhance peace restoration in the northeast. The girls’ handover was attended by Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau; Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Khadija Bukar-Abba and Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai. The released girls, alongside their parents and some aid workers boarded a Nigerian Air Force aircraft en route Abuja at about 18.50 p.m. (NAN)

JAMB:MORE RESULTS WILL BE RELEASED ON 19TH, MARCH 2018

March 18, 2018

The Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board (JAMB) has
urged its 2018 Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination (UTME)
candidates to patiently await the results of the just concluded examinations.

The Head of Media of the Board,
Fabian Benjamin, stated this in an
interview with the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in
Abuja.
He said the board was working
diligently to ensure that the results
are processed and posted on the
board’s website soonest.
Mr. Benjamin said modalities were
being put in place to ensure all the
results are transparent and
accurate.

He reiterated that the board was
delaying some of the results
because each has to undergo total
scrutiny before being posted on its
website to avoid cancellations
later.
According to him, some of the
results would be ready by Monday,
March 19.
He also assured that all technical
difficulties encountered in
accessing the website were being
addressed.

NAN reports that a number of
candidates, who sat for the
examinations earlier, were yet to
receive their results.
While some said that they received
the reply of “your results are not
ready yet”, others complained that
the site says “you did not register
for this examinations.’’
NAN also reports that the
examination, which was scheduled
to end on Saturday, March 17,
ended on Friday, March 16.

JAMB: CANDIDATE WITH HIGHEST SCORE HAD 311

March 18, 2018
Reno Omokri, former presidential spokesman has hailed ex-
president Goodluck Jonathan over the result of a candidate
who got highest score in the ongoing 2018 Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This year, Jigawa State born Aliyu Muhammad Sani
Kaugama has so far emerged the best candidate having
scored 311.
Kaugama, finished his secondary school education from the
Academy for the Gifted and Talented, Bamaina School in
Jigawa.

Reacting to the development, Omokri took to his twitter
page to credit Kaugama’s success to Jonathan’s investment
in education in the North during his administration.
According to him, Kaugma’s result refuted the notion that
southerners were more intelligent than Northerners.
He wrote “This year, Jigawa State born Aliyu Muhammad
Sani Kaugama scored the highest in JAMB’s UTME with 311.
Learn the secret to truly natural weight loss plus
testimonies of people who have benefited
“This dispels the myth that Northerners are not as intelligent
as Southerners. They are!
“Aliyu is the fruit of the massive investment in education
that Jonathan made in the North!”

JAMB: TEENAGER COMMIT SUICIDE BECAUSE OF 163 IN JAMB

March 15, 2018

A candidate of the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination, UTME, being conducted by the Joint
Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has reportedly
committed suicide.
The university admission-seeker simply identified as Loveth
took her life in Ekiugbo, Ughelli North local government area
of Delta State.
Loveth, who was said to be displeased with the 163 mark
she garnered in the exam, was found dead at her home on
Wednesday morning.

The Nation reports that the deceased picked Medicine as
her choice of study.

She was said to have taken three bottles of Sniper and
these were found by her side on Wednesday morning.
According to sources, Loveth had gone to check her UTME
result on Tuesday and discovered to her amazement that
she had scored far lower than she had expected and would
not secure admission to the university to study her “dream
course.”

JAMB:ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE 2018 UTME AND ADMISSION PROCESS

March 15, 2018
It was mixed reactions among candidates that sat for the
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, last
week, when the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board,
JAMB, partly released results of the examination.
While many candidates whose results were released are
rejoicing, other candidates who were denied registration
described the JAMB Registrar’s action as harsh.
Vanguard, while monitoring the UTME observed that unlike
previous years where candidates’ results were released
immediately they left the examination hall, in this case, the
results were released three days after.

JAMB candidates
Our source disclosed that the decision of JAMB not to
release the results immediately was to enable Board go
through its CCTV and identify those involved in examination
malpractice.
Meanwhile, a visit by Vanguard to Sururele and Lawanson
approved JAMB Computer-Based Test, CBT centres in
Lagos State, showed students expressing delight as they
trooped out from examination halls.
Better than 2017
According to Chioma Igwe who wrote her examination at
Knowledge Ware Technology Limited, one of the approved
CBT centres in Lawanson, this year’s UTME was better in all
ramifications compared to last year’s, owing to the fact that
the servers were functional. For her, the questions were
much easier and the officials were more coordinated.
Her words: “If JAMB last year was close to this year’s
examination in terms of functionality of the servers; the
questions set and the conducive environment, I wouldn’t
have failed.
“ This year’s JAMB is a huge success as my centre started
on time and all the servers were working and the
environment conducive. I even finished my questions before
the stop time,“ said an elated Igwe.
Corroborating Igwe’s claim of the exam being hitch-free,
17- year-old Joshua Abayomi also of the same centre said:
“ I was more at peace writing today’s JAMB as everything
was on point, despite the calculations I did as a science
student.

According to him, from the questions, to the conducive
environment, all was great. I want to believe that if JAMB
had always been conducted this way, we would have no
complaints provided we, the candidates, prepare
adequately,” he stressed.
Also, at Reliance S&T Limited, one of the registered
approved JAMB CBT centres at Surulere, it was a success
story.
Mrs Adebambo who brought her daughter to the centre said
her daughter came out happy as she was able to complete
her exam without disruption of the server compared to last
year’s.

“You can see my daughter, she is very happy to do this
JAMB as this server worked well and the questions very
easy,” added the joyous mother.
Reacting to the acclaimed success of this year’s JAMB, Mr
James Owolabi, one of the coordinators at KnowledgeWare
centre said success of the examination was due to the over
all coordination of the JAMB authorities and the obedience
to laid down rules and regulations by the centres.
Concerned parents
However, concerned parents whose children were denied
the 2018 UTME registration because JAMB shut their portal
early, lamented their wards’ denial to sit for the exams,
adding that it would cost them another year.
Admission Analysis

Statistics show that in the 2017 UTME, a total of
approximately 1,700,000 candidates took the exam, out of
the 1,700,000 candidates, the combined admission capacity
of all higher institutions in Nigeria could only admit
approximately 700,000 candidates.
The above data implies that 1,000,000 candidates for the
2017 UTME were not admitted eventually.
Most of those candidates who scored above the JAMB
stipulated admission cut-off of 120 were still hopeful of
securing admission into one institution or the other up till
January 25, when JAMB ordered all institutions to draw the
curtain on their admission processes. Some institutions
even went beyond that date, keeping some candidates
hopeful beyond January 25.
The implication is that almost one million (1,000000)
candidates only realised their hope of admission had been
dashed by the last week in January.
This further implies that almost one million (1,000000)
candidates who are still interested in tertiary education
started rushing to get registered for the 2018 UTME by early
February.

Barrister Moronfolu Adetunji, Mrs Adebowale Rukayat, Dr.
Josephine Robert and Chief Emmanuel Eromosele in their
reactions took a swipe at JAMB for closing its registration
portal for the UTME 2018 on the 11th of February.
Adetunji said: ”Logically, about one million candidates had
only 14 days to register for the examination. It would be the
8th or 9th wonder of the modern world if this can be
achieved in Nigeria where UTME registration is restricted to
only JAMB handpicked CBT centers that could not register
700,000 candidates in two months.
“It is then reasonable to say that so many aspiring
candidates were denied the opportunity of registering as at
the stipulated deadline. Their only sin is that they are
Nigerians and they are therefore subjected to the whims
and caprices of JAMB and its all-knowing and all-powerful
registrar.

More pathetic is the case of those unfortunate candidates
who by stroke of luck, were able to register before the
deadline and were asked to get ready to take the exam by
March 9, barely a month after realising they wouldn’t be
admitted in the 2017 admission process. It is really a hell to
be a Nigerian.
“Would they have been preparing to write another UTME in
2018 while still hoping to secure admission in the 2017
process? Is it then fair to subject them to another round of
failure after collecting N6,200 from their impoverished
parents?”

Reacting to the JAMB Registrar’s excuse, Dr Josephine
Robert said: “Let us examine the excuse given by JAMB why
it cannot postpone the exam:
They want admission processes to be concluded by August.
The question is “Is three months after UTME (June, July
and August) not enough for the institutions to conclude
admission processes, assuming UTME is written in May?
“Which other country of the world apart from Nigeria would
candidates go blindly into the admission procedure? Why
can’t institutions disclose their admission criteria even
before registration for UTME in a given year so that
candidates would know ab-initio whether to choose a
particular school/course or not? Do we even know the
institutions that would conduct post-UTME this year and
those that wouldn’t? Why is it so difficult for JAMB to
compel the schools to disclose their admission policies
openly? Is it because JAMB is in cahoots with the tertiary
institutions in fleecing the hapless candidates and their
poor parents of their hard earned money? I pity the Nigerian
candidates.

“Which other examination body forces candidates to pay
heavily for every mistake made during registration, even
before the deadline?
Why is JAMB alongside its registrar, bent on killing
Nigerians financially on the altar of making money for
government? Is JAMB now Nigerian Custom Service or
Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)?
The Buhari administration is trying hard to put food on
people’s table while JAMB is hell bent on taking the food
away. It’s a shame that we can be this inconsiderate in this
country.

“If we decide to stay silent on this mind-numbing issue
simply because it doesn’t affect us today, who would cry for
us and with us if it affects us tomorrow?”

JAMB SPEAKS ON RESCHEDULING 2018 UTME

March 15, 2018
>The Registrar, Joint Admissions, and Matriculation Board,
JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has declared that there will
be no rescheduling of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination, UTME, for any student like it did last year.
Prof Oyolede made this known when he addressed the press
in Bwari, Abuja, on Thursday.

He also maintained that candidates whose thumbs were not
recognised for verification by the biometric machines might
have registered illegally.
According to him, “They were using something they call
team viewer which will definitely give biometric problem
because these candidates were not physically captured at
the authentic centre.
“We would not be held responsible for that and there won’t
be any form of rescheduling for anybody, I did that last year
out of ignorance.’’

The registrar, however, described the general conduct of the
UTME nationwide as highly successful.
He said the success was because of the use of improved
modern technology.
