Candidates need to consider the following five things before applying for admission in their institution of choice.
1.CHOOSING THE WRONG INSTITUTION/COURSE.
This is a very important thing aspirants should note.Choosing the wrong institution for your course of choice. You need to know if the course chosen is offered in the institution otherwise you might not be admitted or given a course at random which you may not like.
2.FAILURE TO MEET UP WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF YOUR CHOSEN INSTITUTION
This is also a very crucial point aspirants should note. For instance ,if a university accept 180 as it's cut off mark and you had 170.You didn't meet the requirement for the institution. It would be advisable to apply for a change of institution otherwise you will not even be considered for admission. It's a loss on your side. Each university has its own cut off mark ranging from 120 to 200

3.FAILURE TO MEET UP WITH THE REQUIREMENT FOR YOUR COURSE OF CHOICE
You need to make sure you know the cut off mark for your course in the chosen institution. For instance an institution accepts 180 as it's cut off mark and the cut off mark for a particular course is 200(let's say micro biology) but you scored 192.
Actually you scored above the cut off mark for the institution ut didn't meet the requirement for your course.
It's advisable to change your course if you still wish to apply for the institution to a low cut off course otherwise your course might be changed. You can also change institution since the cut off mark for every course in each institution varies.
University of Ilorin may accept 230 for engineering and unilag may accept 200 for the same course. The decision is left to you!!

4) ASPIRING FOR A HIGH COMPETITIVE INSTITUTION/COURSE
Most universities have decided on the number of students they will admit each year. Some make it secretive while some make it public. So these high competitive universities will always look for different means to bring them down to the number of students they wish to admit thereby most students won't be admitted.
Nothing is bad in aspiring for a high competitive university but scoring higher may give you better chances of beign admitted.
And about the competitive courses like Medicine,Law,Engineering, Mass communication, political science and many more.Like I said earlier nothing is bad in choosing those courses but scoring higher will give you better chances of being admitted because they will start giving admission in descending order .

5) SUBMISSION OF WRONG INFORMATION/DOCUMENTS
Many candidates do make mistakes in uploading right information during screening.Information like O'level grades,UTME result, personal information and many more. And some candidates information don't correlate(For instance the name used during waec registration is James Ebuka Paul while the one used during UTME is James Chukwemeka Victor.) This may lead to disqualification.
